Leave the Abusive Relationship

This year the country has experienced a number of killings both male and females. As you have noticed the killings cut across the social status. This means that you can be killed by your partner irrespective of your social status. Most women who end up dead have experienced abuse from their partners but are either afraid to leave, don’t want to leave because of the children or because man is the provider. Some partners stay because they have put in resources in the various shared investments. But when you die you die. The children are left desolate and the investments will be shared by relatives without caring that there are children who have been orphaned. It is plain foolish to stay in a relationship and get killed. The most recent was a lady who was doused with petrol and set ablaze. At the hospital the lady clearly said ” huwa ananichapa but hajawahi niumiza hivi” in English “he has always beaten me up but not this serious” I was so sad to learn that she had died the following day. How is being beaten normal? Like seriously why would you let someone turn you into a punching bag? Honestly, we got to love ourselves and refuse to take domestic violence as normal. It can never be normal. Men should also speak out. It is not cowardice. It is simply value for own life. Let us repeat even to our children. When you get married and your partner beats you up until you are blue just take a walk. Psychologists tell us that most of the stubborn children are those being raised in abusive homes. Leaving will give the children a fresh start and a less toxic environment. By the way, some of the Male abusers also end up defiling their children. Let us face domestic abuse head-on and leave when we can
