I am a Digital Nomad. I work where I want when I want. Sound strange or does it?
Here Is the thing, With the current digital explosion, opportunities have also increased.
It is possible to work from home or while on holiday. I only need good internet connection
and I will make my green bucks from anywhere in the world.
I can live, work and travel all in one space. Instead of commuting to work, I can telecommute.
This means using Information Communication Technology (ICT) to earn a living.
Advantages of Digital Nomadism
- I can work from anywhere as long as there is internet connection. I can work while on holiday in the Bahamas or in Rio de Janeiro.
- I get to choose my work schedule. I can work when everyone else is sleeping or while in
the coffee shop. I don’t have to clock in and work for a pre-determined period.
- I can multi task. unlike fixed job premises where I have to deal with only one task, being
a digital nomad allow me to work on two or three task at a go.
- Creativity is at its best when I am a digital nomad. I come across different environments
that can inspire me an propel me to think out of my comfort zone.
However digital nomadism has its own challenges such as:
I may experience technical problems since not all regions are endowed with internet
Connectivity.
- It may be hard to concentrate on tasks especially while on holiday or while in other
Unfavourable environments.
- I may face time zone problems where by my clients are asleep when I need to contact
them.
- Not all employees allow such liberty. Some like to know I am seated in a certain space handling their tasks.
- Digital Nomadism has made me disconnect with the world at large. I look at people in terms of task thus lacking the human touch of visible interaction.
But I am the modern generation and this is what I found as life. Don’t blame me, learn to live with me the way I am because I don’t promise to quit digital nomadism. It is the only one I know
