Emptiness

There are special guests at the port.

The guests are in a cruise ship

Some saved for years and dreamt of the day

They would tour the world on a cruise ship.

Some are rich and others are ambitious

The captain radios the port for permission

Permission is denied. You will bring the disease.

Port after port, the message is the same.

A few are Ill but permission is denied.

The private jets are parked. The luxurious limousines are parked

The hotels are closed and workers are restricted

The office blocks are closed

The phones that ringed of the hook are silent

The world waits in unity and uncertainty

The world is subdued by COVID 19

Those who worked and those who roamed the streets  are now equal

The clarion call, oh the clarion call is one

Stay home, stay safe

Social distancing in a world that knows no distance is difficult. But then it will save the world

So we stay at home. The hours are there 24 hours a day,

They seem to be more

The children are unsure of what to do. I mean  they have never shared space with parents for 24 hours

They lock themselves in their rooms

But it is boring. They come out and dad is lounging on the couch with a distant look

They go back to their room

The tragedy is no one knows

When it will all end.

But between the doubt and thick wall, there is life

And there is God watching!
